Whether someone is An Atheist or Not is none issue of my concern at all. ALL humankind are religious in one way or another whether one believes it or not!

It is just thought-bubbles that make up all the stories! The whole world created by humankind thoughts. I believe all forms of energies in the whole universe whether one calls as spirit(s), God(s), satan(s), soul(s), self, ego etc..., & finally you, I & he are nothing but the transformation from bare or pure energy in its original capablity! What its bareness or pureness being called, cannot be simply illustrated/talked by human beings' wordings afterall a human being is just a compound of body & mind... scientifically! What's mind by the way? it is very complexity topic!

No one knows exactly why & how the universe came about & does it so critical & immediate urgency for us to know? What if we know scientifically about the big Bang or Black hole, does it help to solve our existing humankind immediate problems? I feel what is more important & critical is to know why humankind are having lots of frictional conflicts & sufferrings among ourselves! What are their causes? Can we find solution(s) or we rather push all responsibilties or everything to someone else such as a God(s) which is beyond our existing knowledge no matter how advance the science & technology is? Why do we have more & more mental problems today? Perhaps this is worthy to discuss & look into it!

This is just my humble thoughts! It is nice we can discuss with open-ended heart-mind!

Merry Christmas & Happy Happy New Year!

QUOTE:- Is God Worth Believing In?

I would say YES because it does give to some sort of confidence to hold on in people life. The parents are the GODS of all babies & kids until they are matured to think. The thought(s) bubbles thus make our world such as the world today. I believe basically religions exist out of humankind fearness & unknown to the world or universe being exposed! Whether there is a God (a creator) or Gods is another thing!

Before we go further the definition of God(s) must be established first otherwise we are just going around a circle.

But if one realise oneself perhaps it is totally a different story again!

Kylyssa, I think you and I agree. We simply use different wordings to express our thoughts. Each expression of a thought must be put into perspective and context. You did that better than I and I agree with you.

I agree that most atheists are agnostic atheists. I am - in that if a shred of objective evidence for the existence of a God surfaced I'd probably believe it was real.

However, I don't secretly believe that there is some God other than the God(s) of organized religions. Produce some empirical evidence and I probably would. However, no empirical evidence for Gods, unicorns, or fairies has been produced.

"An atheist is someone who can’t believe that something exists that is greater than himself and more mysterious than he can understand." This line is pretty much a lie.

I believe lots of things exist that are greater than me such as love, life, the universe, and even certain people. And I challenge you to find this majority of atheists you claim don't believe anything is mysterious or beyond their understanding. I only know a few hundred atheists casually and a dozen or so more than that but to a one - they believe that there is mystery and wonder in the universe and that there is plenty they and humankind don't yet understand.

The line "An atheist is someone who can’t believe that something exists that is greater than himself and more mysterious than he can understand" would much better fit a Christian. They see themselves as a divine creation washed clean of all wrongdoing (above the rest of mankind and any other living thing in the universe) and they believe they have the answer to everything, that the only answer is God.

Most atheists admit that they don't have an answer for everything but that not knowing the answer is OK.

I think it's more honest to say, "I don't know how the universe came about" than to make up an answer such as "God made the universe" after making up a God. Why do people make up answers instead of looking for them? Are people just that lazy?

I am pleased and humbled that this brilliant piece quotes me - one of the main reasons for writing is to gave heart to people who think for themselves, and reassure each other that - though we may be a minority - we are not alone. Congratulations and thanks Alan - Stephen

Actually, I think it is more true that atheists believe that the gods of organized religions are not real. Beyond that they are technically agnostics.
